Tobacco use is a leading global health problem, killing over 8 million people each year, including those exposed to secondhand smoke. Most of the world’s 1.3 billion tobacco users live in low- and middle-income countries, where tobacco-related illness and death are especially severe. This lecture will highlight the global impact of tobacco, smoking-related diseases, and practical tools for medical practitioners to help their patients quit.
